We share our lives with our dogs, so why not share our vacations with them? Healdsburg welcomes four-legged friends, who are welcome at many area hotels, restaurants, shops, wineries and parks. No matter the type of getaway you have in mind, your pooch can join your Sonoma Wine Country adventure.

If you’re visiting to sip our world class wines and taste some of the region’s most exciting and innovative culinary creations, many tasting rooms and restaurants are happy to have canine customers. Wilson Winery loves dogs so much, they’ve named a bottle after them. Their dogs are on the label of Three Dog Zin, designed by local artist Mylette Welch. Two dollars from every bottle is donated to Greendog Rescue. At West Wines, guests can take their dog for a walk in the vineyards as well as taste with them on the outdoor patio. At Lambert Bridge Winery, dogs can relax in a comfy bed and enjoy refreshing water while their humans taste the winery’s Bordeaux-style wines. After tasting, guests can explore the estate gardens with their furry friends on a leash. Longboard Vineyards offers outdoor tastings where dogs are welcome to join.

Dogs are welcome inside the tasting room, on the patio and even in the vineyards at Sbragia Family Winery. The staff caters to people and pups alike – the humans can sample Sauvignon Blanc and Zinfandel while their pets enjoy fresh water and winery treats. At Selby Winery, pets can come to the tasting room, but they must stay on their leash. Dogs can’t come inside the tasting room at Seghesio Family Vineyards, but they are welcome in the beautiful outdoor grove.

Many area eateries have patios where pets can feel at home. Some of Healdsburg’s best known restaurants allow dogs on their outdoor patios including Barndiva, 8 Dragons, Willi’s Seafood and Raw Bar, Bravas Bar & Tapas, Chalkboard, Healdsburg Bar & Grill, Mateo’s and The Wurst.

Healdsburg isn’t just about wine and food. If you and your pet love spending time in the great outdoors, there are plenty of places to hike, play and even float together. Sonoma County Regional Parks maintains a network of 50 regional parks and 35 of them have dog friendly walking and hiking trails throughout the Russian River Region. Riverfront Regional Park, along the Russian River, is just minutes from downtown. Pets on a leash are welcome to explore the redwood grove and two beautiful lakes along hiking trails. In town, Badger Park is an 11-acre area with an off-leash dog park with water and plenty of shade.

For the more adventurous pup, how about an excursion on the Russian River? Russian River Adventures’ SOAR canoes are stable enough to accommodate any size dog and their full-day self-guided excursion is a fantastic way to enjoy the scenery, watch the wildlife and get some swimming in! The team will help get your pet acclimated to being on the boat before you set off on your cruise. Dogs will have access to life jackets as well.

Who doesn’t want a souvenir to remember their amazing trip to Healdsburg with you? Don’t leave town without a visit to Fideaux. The upscale pet boutique is stocked with fun and unique products that are hard to find anywhere else. The shop has everything your furry friend could want – beds, toys, collars and snacks!

At the end of the day, you and your pet can choose from a variety of lodging options to curl up for the night. H2hotel, Hotel Healdsburg and the Harmon Guest house all welcome up to two dogs for an additional fee of $150 per stay. Pet guests receive their own amenities like beds, bowls and treats. Hotel Trio has the same policy for pets up to 75lbs. The Best Western Dry Creek Inn also allows two pets of any size for an additional nightly fee, depending on which building they’re staying. The Rockhouse Suites, Calderwood Inn and Grape Leaf Inns invite dogs under 50lbs for an additional fee. The Camellia Inn allows pets and also has a helpful blog with ideas for dog-friendly itineraries in Healdsburg and Sonoma County.

It’s always best to call and confirm that a local business allows dogs. For more information and to book a stay, visit https://www.stayhealdsburg.com/book-your-stay.
