Healdsburg Turkey Trot
What started as a humble fun run has evolved into an all-out Healdsburg tradition, raising funds for scholarships that help students overcome financial barriers and attend college. Presented by the Rotary Club of Healdsburg Sunrise and the Healdsburg Running Company, and in partnership with the City of Healdsburg, this community-driven event brings together locals and visitors, all rallying for a great cause—LIVE LIKE DREW. The Healdsburg Turkey Trot gives our students a real boost by recognizing and supporting Healdsburg’s high-achieving Scholar-Athletes. Together we help them move one step closer to their dreams.
Kicking off on Thanksgiving morning at 8:00, the Turkey Trot invites everyone – from competitive runners to families with strollers, and even furry friends – to join in on the 5K fun. Expect a lively crowd of 3,000 to 4,000 runners, walkers, and participants decked out in costumes, festive hats, and even turkey feathers. And our beloved City Council Member, David Hagele, will be spinning tunes from the DJ table, bringing a dance-party vibe to the start and finish lines!
“The Turkey Trot is more than a race; it’s a full-on community party,” said Skip Brand, Race Director. “From everyone singing the national anthem together to the costumes, live music, and dance breaks, this is a quintessential slice of Americana. It’s about celebrating, giving thanks, and having a blast together.”
The Healdsburg Turkey Trot remains one of the most accessible and inclusive events in the region, keeping costs affordable and offering free entries to those in need. This commitment to inclusion means everyone – locals, visitors, and participants from all over Sonoma County – can feel the warmth of Healdsburg’s community spirit.
Race participants will enjoy professionally timed results and commemorative shirts. Top runners can look forward to exciting prizes, including fresh-baked pies from Costeaux French Bakery. And everyone who joins can feel proud of giving back in a meaningful way.
Sponsors including Big John’s Market, Charlie Palmer Pigs ‘n Pinot, Stay Healdsburg, Rio Lindo Academy, Healthcare Foundation Northern Sonoma County, Preston Family Charitable Fund, and many other local businesses are instrumental in making this event possible. Thanks to their support, the Turkey Trot continues to raise crucial funds for scholarships and other essential community efforts such as Healdsburg High School Interact Club, Healdsburg High Greyhound Boosters, Farm to Fight Hunger, Reach for Home, and Healdsburg Sunrise Rotary Ideals Scholarships.
