Healdsburg Jazz is proud to present a special Holiday Concert and Dance Party led by the legendary saxophonist Jules Broussard featuring vocalists Tiffany Austin and Derek Evans with the Marcus Shelby Trio. Jules Broussard and his Allstar Band will perform Blues and Swing and Rhythm and Blues influenced by historic dance bands such as Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Louis Jordan, Jimmy Lunceford, Chick Webb, and Ray Charles—who Jules Broussard worked with in the 1960s.
Before the concert, from 6-7 pm, there will be a free swing and Lindy hop dance class to get you ready to dance during the concert. Wine will be available for purchase.
A stalwart of the San Francisco music scene, Jules Broussard was born in Louisiana and began his career when he was only twelve years old, organizing bands and playing lead saxophone for audiences in and around his hometown. Jules’ career spans over six decades of shared studio and stage with such luminaries as Ray Charles, Boz Scaggs, Van Morrison, Carlos Santana, Earl Grant, Elvin Bishop, Art Garfunkel, and Doctor Hook, to name a few. Known as an eclectic alto and tenor player, Jules has been pleasing audiences for decades with a mix of jazz, blues, funk, R&B and rock ‘n roll. Joining Jules will be blues vocalist Derek Evans and rising star vocalist and Healdsburg Jazz resident artist Tiffany Austin with the Marcus Shelby Trio performing Holiday music, blues and swing, and rhythm and blues. This will be a dance party so come ready to swing or however you like to move!
